It's so amazing how a child can impact and change your life. Yes, it's sometimes hard to have your everyday schedule and priorities revolving around a little person. It's sometimes disappointing when you plan on doing something and then have to change your plans because they have a cold or you can't get a babysitter. It also can be hard on your system when you absolutely need a good night's sleep and then you end up being woken by your teary-eyed angel who just wants to see mommy right now and not later. At the same time, it's those little teary eyes that look at you only to capture your heart. Those arms that just can't seem to grasp around your neck tight enough and that causes you to grasp on to them all the more. And when you hear your little one call out your name as loud as they can.."MAMA" you just find out just how much your heart can melt regardless of the hour. Who would have thought that a little person could captivate you so much. I am so thankful for this little girl of mine. So many times I'm told how easy she is and what a joy she is to have around, as if I didn't know that.. hee hee..
When I think back on life before Abby I find it hard to imagine what I did before this beautiful blessing. There was a time that I wasn't sure if I would be able to have a child due to comments that some doctors had said to me. What an amazing joy and somewhat of a shock to end up finding out that I was pregnant as quickly as I did. Mind you, that joy turned into a day of great sorrow about a month and a half later when our lovely doctor gave us the impression that we lost our child. Fortunately, that devastation was quickly turned to one of the most joyful events when our ultrasound showed that we had a very active, healthy and lively baby. As a result of my experiences I have never taken the miracle of birth for granted. I realize what a gift from God I have in Abby. My beautiful baby girl, my treasure.
Resently, I went to a craft show. There I found a couple of beautiful poems and I want to share one with you.
Borrowed Treasure
by Peggie MacDonald
You're a borrowed treasure a gift from
above
To care for and cuddle to cherish and love.
I look in your face and cannot believe
That God made you perfect and He loaned
you to me.
I pick you up to hold in my arms
And my heart's overwhelmed by your
smiles and charms.
I'll wipe away tears and rock you to sleep
These memories of you forever I'll keep.
You need me so much and I'm hear to provide
All the love that I have til the day that I
die.

God's gift.
